c8volt v5 brings stable Camunda 8.10 support and more control over everyday process operations. Camunda 8.9 and 8.8 remain supported.
c8volt is an independent Camunda CLI for operators, developers, support engineers, CI pipelines, and AI agents that need reliable terminal workflows for inspection, deployment, recovery, cleanup, verification, and automation.
The main additions in v5 are:
- native user-task search, inspection, assignment, unassignment, and completion
- effective task variables and explicit process-root, task, and runtime-element variable scopes
- native business IDs, including assignment after creation and together with job completion (Camunda 8.10+)
- process suspension and resumption, including eligible descendant trees (Camunda 8.10+)
- definition lifecycle visibility, separate active/suspended counts, and suspension-aware cleanup (Camunda 8.10+)
- consistent flag grammar: select with properties, write with --set-*, and enrich with --with-*
- API request pacing, gateway-version warnings, and improved smoke-test dependency cleanup
The principle stays the same: done is done.
c8volt waits for observable confirmation and handles the traversal, retries, dependencies, and state checks needed to finish supported workflows. Starting an instance confirms its creation; explicit state expectations can then verify process completion.
Cancellation and deletion understand process families. c8volt discovers the relevant roots and descendants, coordinates prerequisite cancellation, and processes children before parents during deletion. Dry-run previews show the affected scope before execution.
For special operational cases, c8volt ops orchestrates these base operations into playbooks for incident repair, retention, purge, analysis, and smoke testing.
CI pipelines and AI agents can use --automation, --json, and c8volt capabilities --json to discover commands and consume structured results.
When upgrading from v4, update scripts to the new flag grammar. Renamed legacy flags and Camunda 8.7 support have been removed.
